Puppy in a dumpster

Look at this little guy. Look at that face.

Do you know where he was found? In a dumpster outside an apartment building in Ohio. His dog bed, a bag of dog food, a bag with toys, food bowl and SHOT RECORDS were all piled ON TOP of this little guy in that dumpster. Who does that to a 9 week old puppy?? What is wrong with people?? A puppy is not like a magazine that you bring into your house and throw away when you're finished with it. A puppy is a living, breathing responsibility. It is not something you discard into a dumpster when you get tired of it.

All of this was dumped ON TOP of this little puppy (except the pup sniffing the dog food)
My friend and her husband (who found him in the dumpster) took him in and are giving him a temporary place to stay until they can figure out what to do with him. They already have 2 dogs and 2 cats, so keeping him isn't an option. I'm not posting this to ask people to adopt him, because they have had plenty of people offer. I'm posting it because I'm pissed off that people have such disregard for life. It's sickening. I'm so happy that her husband found him, but God forbid, what if he hadn't? What if people would've continued to throw more trash (heavy items!) into the dumpster? What is wrong with people??

It blows my mind that someone could do that to such a sweet little boy. Look at how tired he was after a long and trying day:

They obviously cared for him, because he had all of his belongings with him, (okay on top of him) and he had JUST gotten shots this past Tuesday. So it just escapes me how you can WANT a puppy, PAY for shots, BUY all the things necessary to care for a puppy, then throw that puppy away. Just blows my mind.

  1. Sounds like a sadistic parent punishing a child. Sickening! So glad the little guy is safe. :-)

    1. I fear for the future when that child grows up if that is the case DL. The pup is going to be very well loved!

  2. I have some ideas for VERY Draconian punishment for the asswipes that would do something like this to a puppy. I will, however, refrain from sharing them with you.

  3. Teri, I'm outraged right along with you....they should have taken him to the Humane Society if they wouldn't keep him. People like that don't deserve to live.

    1. You're right Deb, it's not a piece of garbage, it's a dog. How hard would it have been to find an animal shelter or Humane Society?

    1. I believe they are working on that right now. He will most definitely be placed with a loving family.

  5. I'm so happy that in his new home he will never know anything but love and attention. The little girl who is his new "mommy" looked like she had been given the best present ever. THAT is how we should all look when we are blessed with a furbaby that will never have anything but unconditional love for us in return. Is raising a puppy difficult? Of course! You take the good with the difficult, because the reward in the end is worth it. You don't throw away a family member. I really wish that the vet who treated the puppy would report the people. It's just too damn easy to get away with animal abuse and neglect. I hope that all the love he receives at his new home will help him soon forget this trauma. Oh...and God bless Don for saving him :)

    1. Lucky to have warm and caring people in this world. I use Towpath as an example. He was taken in by warm and caring animal lovers and despite the outward scars he still bears on his torso, he has nothing but love for everyone he meets. Thank God for Will and Kathy and for you and Don.

  6. I hope they have the records of where his care was done. Then an address of the despicable people who threw him away like garbage. God bless you friend and husband for rescuing him. This breaks my heart. We are working with our rescue dog - he's taken to nipping at people. I'm terrified I'll have to do something like muzzle him when he's out.....but I would NEVER put him in a dumpster. I would so love on this puppy if we were closer.....

Good on you for writing about this. Awareness is key!

Do the records have the Vet's name on it? I would take it to the Vet and find out the owner and let the police file animal cruelty charges on the owner. My God if they were doing that to punish a child who knows what the authorities may uncover at the home. This just breaks my heart!!!

  8. I hope, that the person who did this had intentions of returning to get the pup, and had to explain to someone why a dog they'd just spent $ on to set up was now gone. I'm picturing some jackhole doing it to their significant other, and then the sig other realizing what kind of wacko they were dating, and left the person. In a dumpster. With THEIR belongings. Cuz really, it's only fair. GAG to the waste of skin.
ps I came here from the snarky post about corking the cock, which had me rofl, but now I'm gonna go love on my rescued dog. :)

  9. I'm ABSOLUTELY not sticking up for whoever did this, but I have personal experience with a situation that could have ended this way.

My sister and BIL got a Shih Tzu puppy, almost a year ago now. Things were fine, the whole family loved the dog, it was well cared for. Then one day, BIL left his dentures on a low table and the puppy got them, chewed them, broke them. If it hadn't been for my sister physically protecting the puppy, he would have killed it. When he calmed down a little, he insisted that they were going to get rid of it—by leaving it in its crate on the side of the road.

My sister put up a fight about it, but up until a couple years ago, she wouldn't have. That puppy would have ended up in a situation a lot like the poor little guy.

It's absolutely disgusting and despicable, but ... that's how it can happen.

  10. He is so adorable! Hope he finds a good home.

  11. He is too cute. It kills me how many ppl don't take pet adoption as a serious responsibility. They think they'll just ditch the animal if they get sick of it or it chews their furniture b/c it's a DOG and that's what dogs do. But what I don't get is why they didn't take him to a shelter. Glad the little guy was found.
