Welcome to Snarkfest

Welcome to my snarky corner of the web. Join me as I discuss everything from wine to chocolate. There may be a few other topics mixed in there too. I talk a bunch about my amazing offspring, 24 and 21. I sometimes go on and on about my secret crush on the amazing Mike Rowe. I talk about things that irritate me or things that make me happy. Sometimes I just talk to hear myself talk. Feedback is always appreciated but please make sure it's respectable. No nudity or profanity. I'm the only one allowed to be profane. But any and all snark is welcome and appreciated!

Big Time Monkees?

Big Time Rush concert tonight. As God as my witness I WILL remember to bring earplugs. I can't believe my husband decided not to join us.

I find their show to be humorous, kinda like the Monkees back in the day. And NO I'm not old enough to remember the Monkees in first run. I watched re-runs, thankyouverymuch. My favorite Monkee was Mickey Dolenz, followed closely by Davy Jones. Not sure who I would associate with whom when it comes to comparisons of BTR and the Monkees. Logan is the smart one, as was Mike Nesmith, although Kendall seems to be pretty level headed. Carlos is most definitely the Peter Tork of the group. James is hard to say. James is pretty dim but he's pretty, well, pretty. Davy was the pretty one but he wasn't nearly as dim as James is. And Mickey? He was always the funny one. All of these BTR guys seem pretty funny on the show, so it's hard to say which one could be the 'Mickey' of the group.

Who was your favorite Monkee? Or, who is your favorite from BTR? Moms? Girls? Chime in here. I know you're out there. I can hear you breathing. Heavily.

  1. I can honestly say I 'never' heard of BTR, but I'm sure they are very entertaining. I also watched the Monkee's, they were pretty hilarious. Speaking of earplugs, I remembered to take mine when I took my niece and nephew to see Britney Spears when she appeared at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic city when she first appeared on the music scene. I hope 14 and 12 enjoy the show!

  2. My boy would watch Big Time Rush. I thought it was the MONKEES of this generation too! But it's annoying as hell. Have fun at the concert earplugs, check. Flask, check.

    1. I don't mind the show very much, it keeps 14 & 12 occupied and actually gives them something to bond over, which makes me a happy mom. Got the earplugs. Would LOVE a flask if I also had a driver to get us home.

  3. Don't know about BTR...don't have cable...yet. Can still find the Monkees in rerun over the digital airwaves, even here on the mountain.

    Hope everyone enjoys the concert.

Like you I liked Mickey and Davey best followed by Mike. I still remember some of the other stuff Mickey Dolenz did...only in reruns, of course.

    1. mom24, I showed my daughters your post and asked them if they knew how lucky they were that they've gotten to see BTR in concert 4 times and there are some girls out there who've never even seen their show. I don't think they really comprehend how lucky they are.

  6. My favorite Monkee is Peter Tork and I still love him to this day. He was interviewed on my favorite morning radio show and he was just as fun as he was in the Monkees heyday. Then comes Davy and Mickey. Mike, on the other hand, is a pompous @ss.

    1. Peter was great, T. And I have to agree with you about Mike. I think he's definitely turned out to be an asshat.

  7. In the shows, my favorite was Mike. It made me happy when he got over himself enough to perform with Peter and Micky. Peter is such a sweetie, then and now.
I was very excited when I got my kids singing along to their CDs.
