Welcome to Snarkfest

Welcome to my snarky corner of the web. Join me as I discuss everything from wine to chocolate. There may be a few other topics mixed in there too. I talk a bunch about my amazing offspring, 24 and 21. I sometimes go on and on about my secret crush on the amazing Mike Rowe. I talk about things that irritate me or things that make me happy. Sometimes I just talk to hear myself talk. Feedback is always appreciated but please make sure it's respectable. No nudity or profanity. I'm the only one allowed to be profane. But any and all snark is welcome and appreciated!

A Partially Empty Nest......

I’ve got a secret to share with you. For a while, I thought I was a terrible mother.
It’s true. I want you to know that I was honest when I said I would miss my daughter when she went off to college. I truly do miss her. It was out-and-out heart-break when we dropped her off. That wasn’t a lie. Nor was it a lie when I said life would change dramatically when she was away and we were left behind. But that dramatic change? I’m not going to lie, a partially empty nest hasn’t been all that bad. You can read more about the adjustment over at Grown and Flown where I've got a guest post!

  1. I read the rest of the post on Grown and Flown but wasn't able to comment over there.
I think it is good that you have those feelings because it is healthy.
Moving forward is a GOOD thing.
I know how hard it will be when it happens to me, I am dreading it already but we have this guilt complex about moving on without our kids that is simply wrong.
It is normal and a part of life to move on and they would want us to.
Good for you, I am so glad you are doing great!
You are an amazing mom, Teri.

    1. Thanks Kari. I had been dwelling on how sad and how hard it was and I really needed to turn things around and focus on the positives.

  2. I'm going to share your post with my mom and remind her how lucky she was to have 3 girls at home who did not fight, leave dirty dishes and clothes around, or rack up enormous water bills. LOL Seriously though, proud of you for adjusting to what I know was a tough transition. Enjoy the relative calm!!! This also gives you the one-on-one time with 16 that she will treasure. - Sheila1968

  3. I am right where you are and share those same feelings. I have 2 sophomores: 1 in college and 1 in high school. My grocery bill has been cut in half with only one boy and his friends to feed at home now. Of course I miss my college boy, but when you know they are right where they are supposed to be it actually makes you embrace change. Plus, I am now spending some real quality one on one time with my younger son and that is really awesome.
